A short review
and photographs of the Farish class 20 and class 31 diesel locomotives
has been added to the 'Articles' section. Although these are now relatively
old re-releases they compare interestingly to the latest more modern and advanced products

N GAUGE SOCIETY AGM/EXPO
At the N Gauge
Society's AGM held in Barrow-on-Soar, the 'Modern
Area Group' attended for the first time with a display stand at
the accompanying exhibition. The aim was to promote modern modelling,
demonstrate the groups website, generate interest and new members, and
provide a place for like minded enthusiasts to gather and meet.
It certainly accomplished this and the main NGS Society Website has been
updated with pictures from the AGM (see http://ngaugesociety.com/gallery/2006agm/agm2006.htm).
Members of the group will be able to read about the AGM along with other
articles, reviews and features in the latest newsletter that
is due to be published soon and will be circulated by email.

3rd February 2006 Wednesday 25th January 2006 Wednesday 18th January 2006 Bachmann have appointed Dennis Lovett as the company's first Public Relations Manager. Previously he was Virgin Trains Corporate Affairs Deputy Director and has an extensive background, experience and knowledge of railways. Encouragingly, not only is he interested in railway modelling, but has researched the history of Graham Farish as part of his studies. Friday
30th December 2005 Members Area The members area has now been set up. You should notice on each page on this site, below the regular menus, an area where you can enter your NGS membership number and the password you chose/were allocated when you joined the Modern Area Group. This will take you to the members area where, amongst other things, you will be able to access online the newsletter that is sent out to members of the area group. Friday
23rd September Yes, there are a some excellent modern N gauge layouts around, such as 'Drem', 'Woodhead', 'Shaweport', 'Stapleforth Mainline', 'Millfields', 'Elgin' and 'Kings Park' but they seem to be rather restricted in the geography of where they appear, tending to be exhibited on a rather parochial basis, are limited in numbers and unfortunately are no longer brand new to the circuit. Without doubt I'm sure that most members of this group will agree that we need to see an increase in the building, development and exhibition of new, interesting and quality layouts that feature 'modern' N gauge. We (the group's committee)
would like to see the NGS 'Modern' group get involved with developing
and exhibiting a showcase signature layout and supporting the overall
proliferation and growth in numbers of such layouts. However, this is
not an easy task for a widely spread group who tend mostly to only be
connected electronically through email and the WWW and whose members have
their own particular favourites concerning eras and locations After consideration we propose that two parallel 'tracks' (excuse the pun) are taken - we will continue to explore the viability of developing a Group showcase layout, however we will also support those members who wish to take the modular route. There are plenty of existing standards for N gauge modules so we would suggest that there may be little point in the 'group' trying to invent a new one. To that aim we are looking for a volunteer to co-ordinate the modular activities - please contact us if you would happy to fill this position. Further details about suggestions for a groups showcase layout will be published here on the website in the future. So in the meantime if anyone has any suggestions or input they would like to make please email here. Monday
